With a drum roll and a flourish ... ba doomp ba, Ta Daaaaa! ... Adoption.com's News Blog is launched.
Welcome one and all to what is destined to be the web's premium one-stop delivery spot for all the news that is the news in the adoption world.
I'm starting it off, and others will be joining in, determined to graze every corner and crevice ... in addition to the miles of column inches that present daily ... in a continuing quest to provide information on and directions to every adoption-related story, film, book, review, critique, tale, song and dance (the Adoption Reel ... not a square dance, but a cooperative triangle?) that pops into the public forum of press.
Like all news organizations, we welcome tips. If you have an organization that works in an adoption-related field, let me know. If there's an event coming up in your area, let me know. If adoption-related news breaks and you're in on it, let me know.
(For the moment, you can let me know via my International Adoption email address: intladoptionblog@adoptionmail.com)
And now that we've been properly introduced in this context, on to the news ...
Although this might look like a blatant shot of self-promotion ... and believe me, it isn't, as I really don't need any extra attention right now ... there's been a great deal of action on the
International Adoption Blog this week, especially
this post, that qualifies as news.
Although many of the 82-and-counting comments are tedious and obtuse, the discussion is often enlightening, and it's worth a look, even if only to learn how divided the adoption community can be.
Those new to the adoption world often enter with no idea that anti-adoption sentiment exists, and it can take a while ... and some bruising ... to get just how vehemently antagonistic opposition to the option of adoption can be. Reading the post and the following comments will give a good idea of how the fray can fry.
