Looking to meet up with other adoptive families for a day of fun?

An organization called Adoptive Families and Friends, located in Western Maryland, is holding a social get together at Idlewild and SoakZone, located in Ligonier Pennsylvania, on July 15, 2007.

Adoptive Families and Friends is composed of families who have adopted their children from the foster care system, internationally, parents who are matched with a child but still waiting for the child to be placed, as well as domestic newborn adoptions. They even have a group for parents who are considering adoption, as what better way to learn about adoption, than from adoptive families themselves? Adoptive Families and Friends holds a host of different events, which meet on either a weekly, or monthly basis for adoptive families, adopted children, and adoptive parents. Click here to open a new window, which will list the current Adoptive Friends and Families events. The group describes themselves as:

…a social, educational, and support group for adoptive families and families who are considering adoption. We are a non profit, non-sectarian, multi-cultural organization, founded in the early 1970s as International Families by Adoption.

The group presents itself as a well-rounded resource for adoptive families in the Western Maryland, and surrounding areas.

Those who have an interest in joining the Adoptive Families and Friends group can click here for details on how to do so.

Pre-registration for the Idlewild and SoakZone park trip is required, so those who are interested in having a fun day out with the family while making new friends with other adoptive parents, should call 301-432-6624.

Themed areas of the park include; Story Book Forest, SoakZone, Jumpin’ Jungle Hootin’ Holler, Raccoon Lagoon, Mister Roger’s Neighborhood of Make-Believe, and Olde Idlewild Rides. While the park seems to be geared towards the preteen and younger crowd, there are some of the larger rides to keep bigger kids happy. The website for the park is very helpful and easy to use, definitely worth a look if you are interested in attending!

Both group sales, as well as season passes are available.
