In what probably means diddly-squat to the children involved,
Members of the Belarusian Parliament are contemplating issues of orphans.
Supposedly, the Council of Ministers has submitted some amendments to the law on "social security of orphan children and children left without parental care" that address compensation of foster and guardian families and "family type" children's homes.
Yes, it's all about reimbursement for heating bills and such since, "the expenses on raising a child are quite high and they need to be compensated ... ".
Adoption is not mentioned at all, which is expected since international adoption from Belarus has been virtually impossible since power-wacky President Aliaksandr Lukashenko decided he didn't like the idea.
Here's what the US State Department has to say in their update from last year.
Also not one bit helpful,
Namibian thieves stealing from and ransacking a center that feeds and cares for about 400 children.
The took all the toys, all the food for the rest of the month, and all the cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Now the people working there are afraid they'll be coming back for the fridge, stove, tables, chairs ... and hey! maybe even the kitchen sink.
The permanently employed security guard apparently didn't notice a thing.
Sigh ...
The Prime Minister of Japan is in India and
his wife spent time at a Kolkata orphanage while PM hubby did other things.
She's apparently big on orphans and wanted to adopt, but her husband doesn't approve of such a thing.
Sheesh.
Maybe she should read
my Older Parent post on reluctant husbands.
And for a surprising look at a divorce China-style,
here's a short piece about an 18-year-old that threw her parents a "Happy Divorce Party".
Seems they stayed together for the sake of her education, and once she finished school she paid them back with a divorce and a party.
Nice ... maybe?
Some frightening news for the day ...
this report on how sexual predators are targeting single mothers as an avenue to their children.
Yep. The FBI has apparently discovered this as the case, and police are saying that lonely women looking for companionship may be easy targets. In one case, the woman married the man who then molested her daughter and offered the child online to other pedophiles.
Is there a punishment harsh enough for such a creep. Sure, but not one that would be considered legal. Too bad.
